磁州窑是中国传统制瓷工艺的珍品是，古代北方最大的民窑体系，也是著名的民间瓷窑，有“南有景德，北有彭城”之说。窑址在今河北省邯郸市峰峰矿区的彭城镇和磁县的观台镇与一带，磁县宋代叫磁州，故名。磁州窑创烧于北宋中期，并达到鼎盛，南宋、元明清仍有延续。磁州窑以生产白釉黑彩瓷器著称，开创了中国瓷器绘画装饰的新途径，同时也为宋以后景德镇青花及彩绘瓷器的大发展奠定了基础。
此磁州窑剔花黑釉龙纹梅瓶，小口宽肩，肩部浑圆饱满，线条流畅，造型敦厚大气。它的装饰特征鲜明，一只腾龙飞跃而下，头、尾、爪布满瓶体，龙头收缩入肩，肩胸部构成主体，展示一种蓄势待发的动态。两只前爪，一扬一收，也构成动势，爪尖锋利，充满力量感。飘动的须和脊翅增加了龙的威猛气势。纹样剔划得非常细腻，片片龙鳞清晰而有秩序，平添一种工艺的精细感。整个图案刻画出了叱咤风云的腾龙形象，表现了陶工精湛的造型能力和表现力。
